  • What kind of dancing do you do?
Our program is centred around Heels dancing. This syle of dancing specilizes in choreography that blends the styles of jazz, hip-hop and burlesque with the fusion of vogue movements and is performed in heels.
  • Do I need dance experience?
Absolutely not! Our choreographers are trained to teach dancing at all levels while still providing room for a challenge. We aren't kidding when we say this program is for anyone!
  • How many days of week will I be dancing?
We currently offer classes on Tuesday from 6:45 to 7:45pm and 7:45pm to 8:45pm and Sunday from 1:30pm to 2:30pm and 2:30pm to 3:30pm. Once registration is open, you will have a chance to pick one day and time that works best for your schedule. Once you have selected you day and time, you will be committed to that class date and time weekly for 14 weeks. However, we ask that outside of classes you find time to practice dances at home.
  • How long is the program?
Our program runs for 14 weeks. The 14 weeks includes all your classes and the show.
  • How is the Program Structured?
To give you a general Kickoff Class: This class takes place prior to the start of our 14-week program. In this class you will get to meet the other Vixens, chat about what to expect over the next 14-weeks and learn some basic heels technique. Week One and Week Two: You will all stay together as one large group on Sunday and one large group on Tuesday to learn the opener Week Three: This is the last week that you will stay together as a large group. We use this week to clean the opener and to complete placements. After this class the large group is divided into smaller, more focused groups. This approach ensures that each dancer is placed in a group that best matches their skill level and learning requirements. Week Four, Week Five, Week Six and Week Seven: During these four weeks, dancers will be in their smaller groups and will learn their first dance which will be showcased in the live show at the end of the 14 weeks. Week Eight, Week Nine, Week Ten and Week Eleven: During these four weeks, dancers will be in their smaller groups and will learn their second dance which will be showcased in the live show at the end of the 14 weeks. Week Twelve, Week Thirteen and Week Fourteen: During these three weeks, dancers will come back together as a larger group to learn the show finale Week Fourteen: This week is also referred to as Show Week. During this week, we will work with all dancers to ensure that they are ready for the live show at the end of the Fourteenth week.
  • What is the purpose of the placement class?
The final class (week 3) in our opener series serves a dual purpose. Firstly, it acts as the cleaning class for our opener. More importantly, this class functions as a placement class. During this class, we assess dancers to facilitate the division of the larger group into small, more focused groups. This approach ensures that each participant is placed in a group that best matches their skill level and learning requirements. Furthermore, it's important for dancers to understand that the composition of these groups is fluid and can vary from one Chapter to the next. This variability depends on the mix of returning dancers and new dancers to the program. As such, being placed in a specific group in one Chapter does not guarantee the same placement in a subsequent Chapters. The decision on the small groups is carefully reviewed and made by the VFDF Directors and Choreographers. Their decisions are informed by a desire to create the best possible learning environment for everyone, taking into consideration the evolving dynamics of the dancers in each Chapter.
  • What do I need to bring to class?
We recommend that you bring the following: - wear clothing that will allow you to move comfortably - bring a pair of comfortable heels that are easy to dance in - bring a pair of comfortable running shoes - water bottle - wear a mask that is comfortable to dance in
  • What if I register but am unable to make a class?
If you can't make a class, no sweat! We use the Band app as a main source of communication while we are in the program. Every week we load the videos to the app so you can practice what you missed at home in time for your next class. Please note that it is very important that you attend all of your scheduled rehearsals. Missing classes not only impacts you but it impacts your team, it also makes it very difficult for our Choreographers to teach. We ask that all dancers please not miss more than two classes per dance. Missing more than two classes per dance will prevent you from performing that dance in the show.
  • Do I have to dance in heels?
Heels are encouraged, unless you are registered in our 50+ class. If you are nervous about dancing in heels, don't panic! We teach you all the tips and tricks to dancing in heels which includes finding and maintaining your centre/balance. Please keep in mind that it is not about the height of the heel, we want you to dance in a heel that makes you most comfortable. Another option is to wear jazz shoes if you are really hesitant about heels.
  • What do costumes look like?
This base costume will be worn at all shows. Our base costume consists of a black dancer body suit (no lingerie), beige dancer tights, black dancer fishnets and black dance heels or jazz shoes (not jazz runners). We have a local dance supplier that offers a discount to our dancers. We do add costume pieces based on the dance and try our best to pick items that are budget friendly.
  • Is there a way for me to try the class before I register?
