Taking place on May 26, 2024, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada, this event marks a significant return to the venue that hosted the inaugural Double or Nothing event in 2019.
AEW celebrates five years of existence live at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. AEW returns to the arena where fittingly the promotion started. 2019 and the first Double or Nothing feels like a lifetime ago. A lot has changed and yet so much has remained the same.
Double or Nothing this year is committing heavily to the casino theme by advertising a “triple main event”. Alluding that their three big matches will hit you like pulling the lever of a one-armed bandit, scoring three cherries, and winning the big jackpot, sets the standards incredibly high.
After a Dynamite where someone besides Bryan Danielson brought the fire (and not metaphorically), I can’t help but wonder what levels of insanity are going to take place on Sunday. The likelihood is that across the card, some of these rivalries are only just beginning. Whoever said what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas obviously wasn’t a pro wrestler.
Back in 2019, Double or Nothing served as the very first official All Elite Wrestling event on pay-per-view. Since then, the promotion has expanded exponentially by bringing in some of the biggest names in professional wrestling to create some of the most memorable moments in the history of the business. Now, to celebrate this milestone occasion, the promotion is returning to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada to bring it back to where it all began.
The card is stacked with Swerve Strickland’s still-new title reign facing its first major test against AEW’s Patriarch, Christian Cage. With both men riding waves of momentum, the winner is one that’s hard to predict. The show also promises new chapters in the storylines of Adam Copeland-Malakai Black, the Best Friends breakup, and more. Plus, a highly anticipated potential classic between Will Ospreay and Roddy Strong, Anarchy in the Arena, and the in-ring debut of Mercedes Monet
.
Double or Nothing 2024 will take place on Sunday, May 26, 2024, with the pay-per-view card starting at 8 PM ET. Be sure to tune in for the “Buy In” pre-show at 7:00 PM ET. which we have embedded below, which will feature preliminary matches and set the stage for the main event.
The 2024 AEW Double or Nothing match card is stacked with intriguing matchups. AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland makes his first PPV title defense against Christian Cage. Double or Nothing also marks the AEW in-ring debut of Mercedes Moné, who takes on Willow Nightingale for the AEW TBS Championship.
However, the state of AEW looks a lot different than that first show. The Young Bucks have been leaning into their Executive Vice President titles a lot more lately and they’ve been running roughshod all over the place. Along with Kazuchika Okada and Jack Perry as the latest version of The Elite, Matthew and Nicholas Jackson have been running the show with an iron fist. They even took out owner Tony Khan and fellow EVP Kenny Omega along the way. Well, some of AEW’s finest have some objections to the way things are being run these days and they will be taking up arms in an Anarchy in the Arena match.
While it will certainly be an unforgettable experience to be there live and in person for this chaotic contest, the best way to view Anarchy in the Arena is with your favorite streaming service. In an effort to help AEW fans find the best way to catch all the action in Sin City this Memorial Day weekend, we have all the details right here.
Double or Nothing has since become a staple for Memorial Day weekend. On Sunday, May 26, AEW presents the fifth edition of Double or Nothing, taking place in the very arena as the inaugural show.
AEW has hyped a "triple main event" for the card. Swerve Strickland is set to defend the AEW World Heavyweight Championship against Christian Cage. The event returns Double or Nothing to the MGM Grand after five years, which is where the inaugural 2019 event was held.
